AAPLAC 2027 Call for Papers

The conference theme of AAPLAC 2027 is Human Flourishing in International and Intercultural Exchange Programs. We are especially interested in proposals that align with this theme as it relates to AAPLAC’s long-standing mission of facilitating and strengthening study abroad, intercultural exchange, and global learning among Latin American, Caribbean, and US institutions.

The 38th AAPLAC Annual Conference proposes a theme that places human flourishing at the center of international and intercultural education. As global challenges grow in complexity—inequality, climate change, democratic erosion, and post-pandemic recovery—the field of international education must ask not only what students learn abroad, but what kind of human beings they become through the encounter with difference.

We welcome submissions from any professional engaged in fomenting educational and cultural exchange within and across Latin America and the Caribbean:

  • Faculty
  • Study Abroad Administrators
  • Non-Governmental Organizations
  • Graduate/Undergraduate Students
  • Independent Field Practitioners and Educators
  • Community Partners

We accept proposals in any language spoken in the Americas and Caribbean. Participants may choose to present in any of the following formats:

  • Presentation (10-20 minutes): Appropriate for 1-2 contributors, this format presents a single case study from a unified perspective.
  • Panel or Roundtable Discussion (60 minutes): Designed for a minimum of 3 presenters, this format explores a broad question or topic in the field or a complex case study through a variety of perspectives. Panels should comprise three to four 10-12 minute presentations, with additional time for discussion. A Roundtable invites a more free-flowing conversation between experts.
  • Poster presentation: Particularly suitable for students, early professionals, or single-program promotion, posters may be presented by individuals or a group of any size. Participants will be asked to create a 48×36 inch poster explaining their case study, research project, or program. They will present their findings to conference participants during our designated poster session.

Proposals must be submitted through our online form below. You will receive a copy of your response upon submission; please save it for your records.
